To live our passion we must first satisfy our basic needs, sleep being one of them.
Often times we put our sleep in the “ I will do that later” category.
People share with me all kinds of reasons as to why they can’t think about, let alone partake in their passion.
Not having enough energy is one of them.
Please don’t misunderstand me. I will never teach putting sleep on the back burner. But if once in a while you don’t get a good night’s sleep and desperately need some zzzz’s, this posture will give you the energy boost you need, and when practiced regularly, balances the serotonin and melatonin levels in your brain, increasing the likelihood of a good nights sleep.
It’s important to first sit up straight and tall with your hands in prayer position above your head, resting your buttocks on your heals, using your core strength, bending from the waist, gradually lower yourself to the mat. Try to rest your forehead on the mat keeping your arms actively Stretched out in front of you keeping your elbows off the mat.
